Eat, Drink and Be Merry!

We are going to try to make this as simple as huckleberry pie...starting at the top of the mountain, The Mountain Village has eating and drinking galore. If you are staying at the top of the mountain, this can be pretty convenient for you.  If not, please, PLEASE designate a driver to get you down the mountain.
You can click on these handy links to see their menus.  Also check out Big Sky Gourmet for a great map.

For dinner at the top, THE MOUNTAIN VILLAGE:
The Cabin Bar and Grill - never a bad meal, in fact, always a great meal.  They have a special now and then that is an elk chop - if they have it when you go - get it.  They also have an appetizer that is baked brie with red wine butter - get it.  Worry about your thighs later.  Entrees run $24 - $34.
Bambu Asian Grill has changed to Scissorbill's - will have to call some folks who have been there to see what the popular opinion is...I'll get back to you.  OK - actually, checked it out myself - it's a bar.  Seems like a good place for the young who enjoy live music.  It
Both The Cabin and Scissorbill's are located in the Arrowhead Mall (above Lone Mountain Sports) next to the Summit Hotel.
The Timbers at Moonlight Basin (and The Timbers Bar) - you can get an incredible tempura asparagus appetizer in the bar and you can count on a good meal in the dining room.  Entrees run $17 - $34
The Black Bear - sometimes otherwise known as "The Fight Club".  It is a local hangout, great pool and great burgers!  Pick your poison!  Still worth it, no matter what happens.  Okay, I also have to add that Dave makes the best ribs on the mountain.  If you have entertaining to do, he can do lots of racks of ribs that will impress your guests.  Call him and get your order in - 995-2845.

In Big Sky Resort - Peaks (in the Summit) has a darn good Bison Ribeye and gravlax salad.  And the Carbiner there has Friday Night Flights of wine tasting.  Whiskey Jack's has a great Lime Cilantro Chicken Salad.  Hummer's in the Village Mall has good everything.  Chet's (in the Huntley) has a good deal on steak night Wed.

Turn here to go to The Cabin, Scissorbill's, The Mountain Village Mall, The Summit, The Huntley and The Lodge.

Go straight past here and take next left to Black Bear Bar.

Go straight past here and follow signs to The Timbers at Moonlight Basin.

Around the MEADOW VILLAGE:
We will do these alphabetically just to be fair and unbiased (which, by the way, is a very difficult task for us).
Allgood's- serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.  B&L run from $6 - $13 and Druns from $7-$20.  They do have a full component of draft beers and barbut it is also family friendly.  PS: a great burger anytime.
Blue Moon Bakery - also B, L& D - all wonderful - great whole grain bread, croissants in a.m.to get your day started and people who understand cappucino and latte. Everything is under $10.  Locals love the lunch - pizza, sandwiches, etc.
Family and pets welcome.  Questions?  995-2305
By Word of Mouth - Dinner entrees run $20 - $42.  Full bar.  Good appetizer menu.
Choppers- new restaurant in the Town Center.  Easy to find.  Remarkable Big SkyLemonade from the bar.  Game room.  Family welcome.  Sweet potato fries on the appetizer menu - but you have to look for them.  Try them, I mean it.  Check out their new website to get a real "feel" for the place.  For large parties, you may want to make a reservation, otherwise, no prob.  995-3830
Country Market- the grocery store with a great deli selection and will fix breakfastand lunch sandwiches, to go - and probably anything else you ask of them. Check their site.
Bluebird Cafe - They have taken the place of Huckleberry Cafe and it sounds scrumptious...I will be able to comment further after tomorrow morning when I try their "southern breakfast like mama used to make".  More to come...
Hungry Moose- yes, it's the grocery store, but also an incredibly good deliw/terrific fresh made sandwiches, quiches and they also do those wholeroasted chickens you can pick up to take home.  They have a little cafe to sit and eat.
La Luna- Southwestern food - very, very well done.  Margaritas - very, verywell done.  They have an exhaustive menu and I would like to be able tospend the next several months checking each item - but alas, the sizeof my butt won't allow that, so I will need you to do that for me,please!
Lone Peak Brewery - I found a great article and it should entice you to go there - where you get a whole pint!  Appetizer menu and some easy american fare.  I am sure they will have web info soon and then you will too.
Lotus Pad - Thai food, made fresh and delicious.  Sometimes its a wait for your food, but that is because it is made when you order.  $12-$22.  995-2728.
Milkie's - Pizza and bar - need more info than that?  Call - 995-2900.
Slider's - at the Conoco station and I will do more research for you on this one.  Okay, got the scoop - my brother says this is a great place to pick up breakfast in the morning if you are leaving at 6am to fish or whatever...He calls it a gut-bomb breakfast - which is a good thing to this former Green Beret.   To add to his credence, his wife says they can do a sack lunch to take with you for later that is  terrific.   I trust her.
The Wrap Shack - wonderful wrap sandwiches that are guaranteed to fill you (and probably a couple of others) up.  They really do roll 'em fat.
Trailhead Pizza - behind The Wrap Shack - I will do some checking...995-7175.
Wokkee Mountain Kitchens - what do you mean hard to guess?  Great name for chinese food, I thought.  $7 - $14.

Turn at the first part of The Meadow Village Center on Little Coyote Road and in that shopping area you will find: La Luna, Country Market, Jasper's Pizza and Lone Peak Brewery. Picture coming soon.

Now - off to the Canyon and some more wonderful gastronomic adventures...
This time they are listed geographically - north to south.
Beginning with Bugaboo - they have a great sign out front that makes it nearly impossible to miss.  Just before you turned on the Big Sky Spur Road 64 at the light, it was on your right.  So if you are going back down the mountain to find it, turn left on 191 and it is on your left.  They serve breakfast, lunch, close at 3:30 til 5:30 and then dinner.  Full bar, kids menu and exquisite food.  And I mean exquisite.
At the intersection of 191 and Big Sky Spur Road 64 is the Conoco Station and Slider's deli is in there.  Needs research - and I will get back - quick.  I promise.  Okay, getting back.  My brother and his wife say that you can go by and get a great breakfast to take on whatever your day's outing consists of and it is a gut bomb that will last all day!  Great breakfast sandwiches.
Next, heading south is Buck's T4.  They have informal, more formal and private group dining.  There's a great bar and kids are welcome.  Food is great.  My husband had a grilled prime rib there one time that he still raves about...they haven't had it when we have been back - but it is still revered!  They will also come pick you up for dinner if you are staying somewhere else and THEN they will take you home!  Whattadeal.
Next, heading south on the left is Half Moon Saloon.  Cold beer, full great bar, dining room is separate from bar.  I think (and will check this) the bar opens at 4pm - a great place in the summer for a beer after fishing or hiking.  Lots of live entertainment there and a good time to be had by all.  Check it out.  I don't have good info about dining there but will try it again and get back with you.  How's that for finesse?
Next is Rainbow Ranch, which, unfortunately burned this past spring.  It is profoundly missed and we look forward to having it back soon.
Across from Rainbow Ranch is The Corral Bar.  The Corral tends to attract locals and tourists too.  Great menu - great wings - good wine choices - Steele Chardonnay and Cohn Cabernet - great atmosphere and the kids will love the dead animals on the walls.
320 Ranch is further down 191 on the left.  It would be hard to miss.
